This survey identified systematic policy failures impacting First Nation people residing in remote communities in Queensland and was forwarded for attention.
No doubt our survey had contributed to this policy change as less than 2 months later, the Office of Fair Trading in consultation with First Nations communities and other stakeholders have implemented an exemption pathway for First Nations communities (without restricted areas), addressing the concerns raised in the BARS Training report.

This is a huge change for remote communities of Queensland and I am again proud that BARS Training Australia have played a significant role. I must credit the Office of Fair Trading as the author of this guideline that supports the principles of self-determination, local decision-making and close consultation between First Nations communities and Government.
