Yes. BARS Training Australia offers specialist Security Guard Weapons training for people wanting to become armed security guards in Queensland. Our Security Guard Weapons Course is designed to meet the training requirements for an application to Queensland Police Service Weapons Licensing for a Security Licence (Guard). The course includes
  • CPPSEC3101 Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation,
  • CPPSEC3102 Maintain operational safety and security of the work environment,
  • CPPSEC3103 Determine and implement response to security risk situation,
  • CPPSEC3114 Control security risk situations using firearms,
  • CPPSEC3115 Carry, operate and maintain revolvers for security purposes,
  • CPPSEC3116 Carry, operate and maintain semi-automatic pistols for security purposes,
  • CPPSEC3117 Carry, operate and maintain shotguns for security purposes, and
  • CPPSEC3131 Select, use and maintain body armour for security purposes.
BARS also provides the annual Security Guard Safety Requalification Course required for security guards maintaining their firearms licensing requirements. Our firearms training is deliberately practical and face-to-face, including classroom instruction, firearm handling and live-fire range assessment. We don't believe armed-security training is an area where shortcuts should be taken. Safe drawing, handling and operation of a firearm requires supervised practice and repetition to develop the skills and muscle memory you may one day depend upon in a genuine emergency.

Before undertaking the armed-security pathway, you will also need to satisfy the applicable licensing prerequisites, including holding a Queensland Class 1 security provider licence with the cash-in-transit function.
