CPP20218 - Cert II Security Operations
Individuals seeking to become licensed as security officers (unarmed), security monitors, or crowd controllers in Queensland must complete the 14 core competencies within the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations course. This qualification reflects the role of a security officer responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting, or guarding property while unarmed, as well as screening entry, monitoring, and removing persons from premises.

This qualification is designed for new entrants to the security industry aiming to obtain a security (unarmed), security (monitoring), and crowd controller license in Queensland. Queensland legislation requires individuals working as security officers to be licensed. The Office of Fair Trading administers and issues licenses to successful applicants. Completion of the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is a mandatory requirement for licensing.

Please note, BARS Training Australia is not registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). The Office of Fair Trading Queensland will not accept a training certificate issued to a student visa holder unless the training is conducted by a CRICOS-approved provider. If you hold a Student Visa, you will not be enrolled to commence studies with BARS Training Australia.

The certificate is delivered through a combination of self-paced learning and face-to-face group training and assessment. Please note, this course also requires students to complete pre-reading and online/external study in addition to the face-to-face workshop delivered over 7 consecutive days.

Pre-Course Workbook:
The pre-course workbook includes a course introduction and overview, providing information about study support, access to learning resources, flexible scheduling, and delivery of training and assessment. Information will also be given about information and communication technology and any other services deemed necessary to support learners in achieving competency. During this pre-course phase, participants will have access to online video conferencing and phone support, including over 52 videos related to first aid and best practices in security operations.

Face-to-Face Training:

This course requires participants to attend 7 full days of face-to-face training from 9 am to 5 pm. During this time, participants will complete all remaining course underpinning knowledge and project scenario assessments. Participants will be assessed against the required competencies through role-plays, scenario enactments, group discussions, and demonstrations, creating an engaging and varied learning environment.

Note: Due to course competency requirements related to role-plays, scenario enactments, and restraint demonstrations, all full security courses will be restricted to a minimum of 5 students.

Course Requirements

Students must be physically capable of responding to first aid emergency scenarios, including providing CPR to a manikin on the floor. Anyone in a wheelchair or with other disabilities that may impact their participation in these activities should contact us to discuss their individual circumstances before enrolling.

Funding Issues

Funding also may be available through the Queensland Government's certificate 3 Guarantee Boost, assisting unemployed jobseekers or those at risk of unemployment to link with training opportunities to help with finding a job or stay in employment.

To be eligible for funding under the Queensland Government's Certificate 3 Guarantee Program you have to aged 15 years or above and be a permanent resident of Queensland. You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or temporary resident with the necessary work visa on a pathway to permanent residency. Student Co-Contribution Fees

BARS Training Australia will administer a Student Co-Contribution fee of $10 for concessional students or a Student Co-Contribution fee of $20 for non-concessional students for the course. The administration fee change includes all materials and will be collected from the applicant on submission of a course application. BARS Training Australia will retain any administration fee collected which will be fully refunded or transferred to a future course should a course application fail.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgment of skills and knowledge held by an individual as a result of formal training, work experience and /or life experience. If you believe that you already possess some or all of the learning outcomes contained in this course and you can demonstrate current competency, then you can apply for RPL.  To register for RPL you simply contact BARS Training Australia on (07) 5529 0834 during office hours or alternatively complete your online application indicating that you wish to apply for RPL and one of our staff will contact you.

CPP31318 - Certificate III in Security Operations

The CPP31318 Certificate II in Security Operations Course is a qualification suitable for individuals who wish to deepen and broaden their skills and knowledge in security operations and lead security teams in the field. It provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings, including security risk management.

Security Officer Training and Certification
At this level, security officers provide leadership in team environments, operate under limited supervision, and exercise discretion and judgment in both predictable and unpredictable work situations. Prepare for a rewarding career in the security industry with BARS Training Australia!

The certificate will be delivered through a combination of self-paced learning and face to face group training and assessment. The self-paced learning is to be undertaken prior to participation in the compulsory 8-day face to face assessment.

TRAINING (Phase 1) - The initial training includes a course introduction and preview, where the student will receive information about study support, access to learning resources, flexible scheduling and delivery of training and assessment.  Information will also be given to the student about information and communication technology and any other services deemed necessary to support learners to achieve competency.

SELF- PACED LEARNING (Phase 2) - On successful completion to the training session (phase 1) the participant will be required to complete the course underpinning knowledge and project scenario assessments in a workbook or online self-paced learning format.  During this minimum 20 days self-paced phase of the course the participant will be on-line video conferencing and phone hook-up support.

In the event a participant is unable to complete the self-paced learning phase of the course prior to the scheduled assessment phase, they will be invited to attend further training sessions in that locally at no cost to the participant.

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT (Phase 3) - This phase allows participants to be assessed against the required competencies whilst taking to part in role-plays, scenario enactments, group discussions and demonstrations that create an excellent and variety-based learning environment.

Note: The full course is conducted over appropriately 28 days (8 days face-to-face + 20 days self paced learning through workbook or online learning)

It is a pre-requisite of this course that students hold a current security officers license in the relevant State or Territory. Note: that this qualification is not a licensing course in Queensland, any participants wishing to obatin a license should enrol in the CPP20218 - Certificate II Security Operations Course.
