Completion of CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations provides the prescribed training for relevant Queensland security provider licence applications but does not guarantee that a licence will be issued.

BARS Training Australia is not registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
Overseas students studying in Australia on a student visa who are required to undertake training with a CRICOS-registered provider are therefore not eligible to enrol in this course with BARS Training Australia.

Queensland Government Subsidy – Career Start
Eligible Queensland students may be able to access subsidised training under the Queensland Government’s Career Start program. Career Start supports eligible Queenslanders to access subsidised entry-level training that provides skills leading to employment or further training. Eligibility for subsidised training is not automatic and must be assessed and confirmed before enrolment.
Applicants must meet the Career Start eligibility and entitlement requirements applying at the time of enrolment. These include requirements relating to Queensland residency, citizenship or eligible visa status, school status, previous qualifications, current enrolment in other DTET-funded training and previous access to Queensland Government subsidised training.

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
HLTAID009 is not a separate training requirement for an initial Queensland security provider licence where the applicable first aid requirement is satisfied through HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. Students wishing to be separately enrolled and assessed in HLTAID009 and receive a Statement of Attainment must complete a separate enrolment.
SITHFAB021 – Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol
SITHFAB021 is not included in CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations and is not required for the issue of the security qualification. Students wishing to obtain SITHFAB021 must complete a separate enrolment and satisfy the applicable training and assessment requirements.

Training and Assessment
CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is delivered through a combination of pre-course self-paced learning and seven consecutive days of face-to-face training and assessment. Students must complete the prescribed pre-course learning and preparation activities before attending the face-to-face component of the course.
Pre-Course Learning
Before attending face-to-face training, students receive a comprehensive pre-course workbook and access to supporting learning resources designed to introduce key knowledge and prepare them for the practical component of the course. Students also have access to more than 52 instructional videos covering first aid and security operations. Support is available throughout the pre-course learning period by telephone and online video conferencing where required. Students experiencing difficulty are encouraged to contact BARS Training Australia so that appropriate learner support or reasonable adjustment can be considered.
Face-to-Face Training and Assessment
Students must attend seven consecutive days of face-to-face training and assessment from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm each day. During this component, students undertake further training and complete the required knowledge and practical assessment activities. Assessment includes written and knowledge-based activities, practical demonstrations, role-plays, simulated security scenarios, group activities and other tasks required to demonstrate competency. These activities allow students to apply their knowledge and demonstrate the practical skills required to respond effectively to realistic security workplace situations in a controlled training environment.
Course Completion Period
Students are required to remain actively engaged in their training and assessment and are expected to complete all course requirements within three months of enrolment. Where reasonable or extenuating circumstances prevent completion within this period, an extension may be approved by BARS Training Australia. Students experiencing difficulties with their training are encouraged to contact BARS Training Australia or their facilitator as early as possible so that appropriate support, reasonable adjustment or an extension can be considered.
Minimum Course Numbers
Due to the practical assessment requirements of CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations, including role-plays, simulated security scenarios and practical demonstrations, a minimum of five students is required for a scheduled course to proceed.
Prerequisites
There are no formal entry prerequisites for CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations. Applicants intending to use this qualification when applying for a Queensland security provider licence should review the current licensing eligibility requirements published by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading before commencing training.

Physical and Practical Requirements
CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations includes practical training and assessment activities that require students to demonstrate physical skills relevant to security work and first aid. These activities include practical security scenarios, defensive techniques and responding to simulated first aid emergencies.
Students undertaking HLTAID011 Provide First Aid are required to demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a manikin positioned on the floor in accordance with the requirements of the unit of competency.
BARS Training Australia supports access and participation and will consider reasonable adjustment where appropriate. Funding – Queensland Government Career Start
Queensland Government subsidised training may be available for eligible students undertaking CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations through the Career Start program. Eligibility is not automatic and must be assessed and confirmed by BARS Training Australia before enrolment.
Eligibility requirements include age, Queensland residency, citizenship or eligible visa status, school status, current enrolment in other DTET-funded training, previous qualifications and previous access to Queensland Government subsidised training. Applicants must provide the information and evidence required for BARS Training Australia to determine eligibility under the current Career Start Program Policy and Skills Assure Supplier requirements.

Applicants must provide sufficient, valid, authentic and current evidence to demonstrate competency against the requirements of the relevant unit or units of competency.

Training and Assessment

The delivery model is divided into three phases, allowing students to develop the required underpinning knowledge before completing the practical training and assessment activities.
Training – Phase 1
The initial training phase includes a course introduction and overview. Self-Paced Learning – Phase 2
