The BARS Training Australia Armed Robbery Awareness Program provides practical awareness training for businesses and staff who may be exposed to the risk of armed robbery. The program focuses on reducing the likelihood of an incident and, where an armed robbery occurs, minimising the potential human, operational and financial impact on employees, customers and the business.
Developed from extensive policing, security operations and security advisory experience, the program examines practical prevention strategies, staff awareness, behaviour during an armed robbery, personal safety, actions following an incident and appropriate workplace procedures. Training can be tailored to the individual business, its operating environment, identified risks and the responsibilities of staff and management.
The Armed Robbery Awareness Program provides businesses and staff with practical strategies to reduce the risk and potential impact of armed robbery and hold-up incidents. Training considers the safety and welfare of staff and customers, protection of business assets and actions that can assist police investigations following an incident.
The program examines workplace design, physical security, staff awareness, cash-handling practices and operational procedures that can reduce opportunities for armed robbery. Crime prevention strategies include increasing the effort required to commit an offence, increasing the risk of detection and apprehension, and reducing the potential rewards available to an offender.
Participants also examine appropriate behaviour during an armed robbery, personal safety, observation and offender information, actions immediately following an incident, preservation of potential evidence, reporting to police and the welfare of staff and customers following a traumatic event.
Businesses are encouraged to regularly review their security arrangements through a risk assessment covering physical security, workplace design and layout, cash-handling practices, operating procedures, staff training and risks associated with the location and nature of the business.
Training is conducted at premises nominated by the client, with required training resources supplied by BARS Training Australia. The program can be tailored to reflect the client's workplace, operating environment and identified security risks.
Course Fee $450 for up to 10 participants
Additional participants may attend the same session for $10 per person.
The Armed Robbery Awareness Program is delivered as a two-hour face-to-face training session conducted at premises nominated and provided by the client. This allows the training to be delivered within, or in direct reference to, the client's actual workplace environment and security arrangements.
The session combines instructor-led discussion, practical examples and workplace-based scenarios covering armed robbery prevention, staff awareness, personal safety, appropriate actions during and following an incident, crime scene and evidence preservation, and relevant workplace security procedures.
BARS Training Australia supplies the training resources and participant handouts required for the session. Participants who attend the program will receive a BARS Training Australia Statement of Attendance.
This is a non-accredited industry awareness program and does not result in the issue of a nationally recognised qualification or Statement of Attainment.
There are no formal prerequisites for participation in the Armed Robbery Awareness Program. The program is designed for businesses, managers and staff seeking practical information and strategies to assist in reducing the risk and potential impact of armed robbery within their workplace.

Information about the client's business, security arrangements or workplace practices obtained by BARS Training Australia during the program will be treated confidentially and managed in accordance with applicable BARS Training Australia privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Bookings are subject to the applicable BARS Training Australia Terms and Conditions and any arrangements confirmed with the client before delivery. The client will be invoiced following completion of the training, with payment due within seven days. Statements of Attendance and associated course documentation will be processed following payment and forwarded to the client.
The advertised course fee applies to training delivered within South East Queensland and Townsville. Additional travel and associated costs may apply to training delivered in other locations and will be confirmed with the client before the booking is finalised.
