Do I need Certificate II before cash-in-transit training?
Cash-in-Transit Security·23 views
You need both the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations and the three additional cash-in-transit units before you can obtain the cash-in-transit function on a Queensland Class 1 security provider licence. However, the order in which you complete the training is really up to you.
The national training package does not impose an entry requirement on CPP20218 itself, and the important issue for Queensland licensing is that you have successfully completed all of the required training when you apply for the cash-in-transit function. In practical terms, BARS Training Australia regularly conducts our cash-in-transit course immediately following the CPP20218 Certificate II course.
This makes sense for new students because you can complete your 14 core Certificate II units and then continue into the additional three CIT units while your security knowledge and practical skills are fresh. Once both training requirements have been successfully completed, you can apply to the Office of Fair Trading for the cash-in-transit function on your Class 1 licence.
Remember, cash-in-transit is an additional security licence function – it does not automatically make you an armed guard or authorise you to carry a firearm.
