In Queensland, refresher or revalidation training is an ongoing requirement for security providers licensed for the crowd controller and/or bodyguard functions. The dates by which you must complete this training are provided with your licence, and it is your responsibility to make sure the required training is completed and submitted to the Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) before those dates.
Crowd controllers must refresh HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation every 12 months. Every three years, you must complete CPPSEC3101 Manage conflict and security risks through negotiation, CPPSEC3121 Control persons using empty hand techniques, and either HLTAID011 Provide First Aid or HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid. Importantly, don't leave your revalidation training until the day it is due.
You need to allow sufficient time to attend the course, complete all assessment requirements, have your assessment material marked and allow the RTO to issue your Statement of Attainment and results. OFT actually advises that evidence of completed training should be submitted at least two months before your licence expires. Failure to complete and submit required ongoing training can result in disciplinary action and potentially cancellation of your licence. BARS Training Australia delivers the required crowd controller revalidation training and recommends booking well before your due date. You can check the current requirements directly (
