What happens if a crowd controller does not complete refresher training?

Failing to complete your required refresher or revalidation training means you are not complying with an ongoing requirement attached to your crowd controller licence. Importantly, this does not mean that your entire Class 1 security provider licence, or every function appearing on it, is automatically cancelled. The training requirement relates specifically to the crowd controller and/or bodyguard functions. OFT advises that failure to complete the required ongoing training can result in disciplinary action and may ultimately result in cancellation of the affected licence function.

Your refresher training due date is also not the same as the expiry date printed on your security licence. The dates by which your ongoing training must be completed are provided with your licence, and you are responsible for keeping track of them. Unfortunately, this is where security providers can get caught out. You may look at the expiry date on your licence and assume everything is current, while your three-year revalidation training is actually due earlier.

BARS Training Australia sends our students reminders when their revalidation training is approaching because we would much rather see you in the classroom before the due date than trying to help resolve a licensing problem afterwards. Don't leave the course until the last day either. Allow enough time to complete the training, have your assessments marked and for BARS to issue your Statement of Attainment so the required evidence can be provided to OFT.
