What refresher training does a Queensland crowd controller need?

Existing Officers and Refresher Training · 28 views
Queensland crowd controllers are required to keep their skills current through compulsory ongoing training. Every 12 months, you must refresh HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Every three years, you must complete CPPSEC3101 Manage conflict and security risks through negotiation, CPPSEC3121 Control persons using empty hand techniques, and either HLTAID011 Provide First Aid or HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid.

Your refresher or revalidation date is important because it is not necessarily the same as the expiry date printed on your security licence. OFT provides your ongoing training dates with your licence, and it is ultimately your responsibility to make sure the required training is completed and your results are submitted on time. BARS Training Australia delivers the required crowd controller revalidation training and also sends reminders to our students as their training date approaches. We strongly recommend not leaving it until the last minute. You need enough time to attend the course, successfully complete the practical and knowledge assessments, allow the assessment material to be marked and have your Statement of Attainment issued.

Failure to complete the required ongoing training can result in disciplinary action and ultimately the loss of your crowd controller function. One final point worth remembering: this compulsory three-year revalidation requirement applies specifically to the crowd controller and bodyguard functions. It is not a general three-year refresher requirement applying to every function on a Queensland Class 1 security provider licence.
