Yes, if you are a BARS Training Australia student. We maintain training records for our students and send reminders when your crowd controller or bodyguard revalidation training is approaching. We can check your BARS training history, explain the current refresher requirements and help you plan your training so it can be completed before your due date.

However, those reminders are an additional BARS student support service – ultimately, you remain responsible for keeping your training current. Security providers have busy lives, particularly when working shifts, so don't leave your refresher training until the last minute. Plan ahead and find a course date that fits your work and family commitments while still allowing enough time for assessment, marking and the issue of your Statement of Attainment. If you did not complete your previous training with BARS, or you are uncertain about a condition or training requirement attached to your licence, contact the Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT).

OFT is the regulator and can confirm the training requirements applying to your particular security licence and licence functions. They will not provide general industry or career advice, but they can tell you what regulatory training requirements apply to your licence. Once you know what OFT requires, you can then choose an RTO to complete the required training.

For our own students, though, we will continue doing our best to remind you – because after more than 20 years of training security providers, we know just how easy it is for three years to disappear.
