Yes – and you should. Your crowd controller or bodyguard refresher training should be completed early enough to allow time for the course to be completed, all assessment material to be marked and your Statement of Attainment to be issued before your revalidation due date. Remember, completing the course and receiving your certificate are not necessarily the same date.
An RTO is permitted time to complete its assessment and certification processes after you have successfully completed all course requirements. BARS Training Australia normally issues Statements of Attainment considerably faster than the maximum permitted timeframe, generally within seven days, but you should still allow for possible delays. This is particularly important when BARS is delivering training in regional or remote Queensland where assessment materials may need to be returned and processed. Another important point is that your three-year revalidation due date is not necessarily the expiry date printed on your security licence. These dates need to be managed separately.
BARS sends reminders to our students when their revalidation training is approaching, but ultimately it remains the licence holder's responsibility to complete the required training on time. Our advice is simple: don't book your refresher course for the day your training is due. Complete it beforehand and give yourself enough time for the assessment and certification process to be finalised.
