Who needs an RMLV certificate in Queensland?

Existing Officers and Refresher Training · 21 views
In Queensland, Responsible Management of Licensed Venues (RMLV) training is mandatory for individual liquor licensees and approved managers. Some liquor permit holders may also be required to hold a current RMLV certificate depending on their circumstances. The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) oversees these requirements as part of Queensland's liquor licensing framework.

An approved manager has significant responsibilities within a licensed venue. Depending on the type of liquor licence and trading hours, an approved manager or individual licensee may need to be present at the premises or reasonably available while the venue is trading. Approved managers are responsible for helping ensure liquor is sold and supplied in accordance with Queensland liquor legislation and the conditions applying to the premises.

This makes RMLV particularly relevant to people progressing into management positions in hotels, nightclubs and other licensed venues. For security officers and crowd controllers, RMLV is not generally required simply because you perform security duties. However, understanding licensed venue management can be valuable if your career progresses into broader venue management responsibilities. There is also an important difference between RMLV and RSA. If you hold a current RMLV certificate, you do not need to separately complete RSA training in Queensland because you are considered to have already received the required RSA training. RMLV certificates remain current for three years and must then be renewed through further RMLV training.  For more information (click here)
