Does government funding pay for my security licence?
Security Course Fees and Payment Options·38 views
No. Queensland Government Career Start funding subsidises the cost of your approved security training with BARS Training Australia. It does not pay the separate costs associated with obtaining your Queensland security provider licence through the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), including the licence application, mandatory criminal history and fingerprinting fees.
However, BARS Training Australia works closely with employment service providers and security employers throughout Queensland. In the past, employment service providers have assisted eligible job seekers with security licensing costs where obtaining the licence forms part of their pathway into employment.
There are also a number of funding and employment assistance programs available to specific groups that may provide assistance towards security licensing and other employment-related costs. Whether this assistance is available will depend upon the particular program, employment service provider and your individual circumstances. BARS discusses the expected licensing costs with students during the pre-enrolment process so you understand the complete cost of moving from training through licensing and into employment. If you are working with an employment service provider, it is certainly worth asking whether they can assist with your security licensing costs.
BARS cannot guarantee that another organisation will pay these costs, as that decision rests entirely with the organisation providing the assistance.
