How much does the funded BARS security course cost?

If you have been approved for Queensland Government Career Start funding, BARS Training Australia is required to charge eligible non-concessional students a student co-contribution fee. BARS has deliberately kept this fee very low – currently just $20 for the entire CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations course, including training and course materials.

Concessional students are different. Because CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is classified as a lower-level vocational qualification, Career Start rules allow BARS to provide the qualification without charging a student co-contribution fee to eligible concessional students. BARS has chosen to do exactly that, meaning the current student contribution is $0 for approved concessional students  So, in simple terms: if your Career Start application is approved, the BARS course currently costs $20 for a non-concessional student and $0 for an eligible concessional student.  Remember, however, that Career Start funding subsidises your training – it does not pay the separate Queensland Office of Fair Trading costs associated with obtaining your security provider licence, including licence application, criminal history and fingerprinting fees. Funding eligibility must also be formally assessed and approved before enrolment.

BARS cannot confirm government funding eligibility over the telephone or by email alone. The student must first submit an application containing the required declarations and identification so that their eligibility can be checked and confirmed through the Queensland Government funding process. All course costs and funding eligibility will be fully disclosed to the applicant during the pre-enrolment assessment.  Submitting an application to BARS Training Australia does not commit you to enrolment, and you are not required to proceed with the course after your eligibility and costs have been explained.
