Do I need 100 points of ID for a Queensland security licence?

Yes. The Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) requires security provider applicants to establish their identity using 100 points of identification, including at least one primary identity document. Your identification is also important when you attend to have your fingerprints taken. Once your security licence application has been lodged, OFT will send you a confirmation letter explaining the fingerprinting process. Your fingerprints are then matched against the 100 points of identification provided with your application.  Do not simply arrange your own fingerprints beforehand – wait until you receive the correspondence from OFT telling you what to do.

There is a very good reason for these identity requirements. Security providers are placed in positions of considerable trust. They may be responsible for protecting people, property, businesses, licensed premises, confidential information and valuable assets. Why, in this day and age, would government give a security provider – or anyone else – that sort of “backdoor pass” without first establishing exactly who they are?

The 100-point identity check, fingerprinting and criminal history check are all important parts of establishing your identity and suitability before OFT decides whether to issue your Queensland security provider licence.
