Can I put more than one function on my security licence?

Queensland Security Licensing · 26 views
Yes. In Queensland, you can hold a Class 1 security provider licence for either a single security function or multiple security functions, with licences generally available for either a one-year or three-year period. The functions that can appear on your licence depend on the type of security work you intend to perform and whether you meet the specific eligibility and training requirements for each function.

Applicants must provide evidence of the required training qualification or competency for the particular licence functions they are applying for, together with satisfying the other licensing and suitability requirements of the Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT). For example, completing the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations provides the training pathway for the crowd controller, security officer (unarmed) and security officer (monitoring) functions. Other functions may require additional specialist training before they can be added to your licence.

From an employment perspective, holding multiple appropriate functions can be valuable because it allows you to undertake a broader range of security duties and can make you more versatile to potential employers. It is equally important to ensure you hold the correct function for the work you perform, as carrying out regulated security duties for payment or reward without the appropriate licence is an offence.  For current licence functions, training requirements, fees and application information, BARS recommends referring to the Queensland Office of Fair Trading website. +(click here)
