How do I apply for a Queensland security licence after training?

Queensland Security Licensing · 30 views
BARS Training Australia will guide you through the Queensland security licence application process as part of your training. Students can apply online through the Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT), and our facilitators will explain both the online application process and the paper application process during your course. BARS students will also receive information by email about lodging their licence application online.

You do not necessarily need to wait until the end of your course before beginning the application process. BARS recommends that students commencing their initial security training consider starting their online licence application and, where the system permits, upload their BARS course confirmation/enrolment email as evidence that training is underway.

While OFT has not formally confirmed this approach for new applications, commencing the licensing process while you are completing training may help reduce unnecessary delays. Once you successfully complete your training and all 14 units of competency, BARS will issue the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations and provide the required training evidence for the licensing process. Your application remains subject to OFT requirements, including identity, suitability, criminal history and fingerprinting requirements. Do not independently arrange fingerprinting or obtain your own criminal history check for this purpose, as these are managed through the OFT application process.

BARS cannot issue or guarantee your security licence, but we will explain the process and help you understand what needs to happen. Our objective is to help you progress from training to licensing and employment as efficiently as possible.
