Absolutely. In fact, regional and remote Queensland can offer some excellent opportunities for licensed security officers.
Queensland’s security workforce has historically been heavily concentrated in South East Queensland, with more than 75% of workers located there, while regional and remote areas can experience much thinner labour markets. Security companies have sometimes needed to use FIFO arrangements simply to meet regional requirements for critical infrastructure, property and major events. Security employment in regional Queensland is extremely diverse. Opportunities can exist around airports, ports, mining and resources, hospitals, government facilities, shopping centres, licensed venues, tourism, major events, gatehouses, industrial facilities, mobile patrols and critical infrastructure. In some remote communities, finding enough appropriately licensed security personnel can be a genuine challenge.
BARS Training Australia has been working throughout regional and remote Queensland for more than 20 years and has developed extensive relationships with security employers and communities along the way. Our training locations extend from major centres such as Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Mount Isa through to Cape York, Gulf Country and the Torres Strait. If you are prepared to consider regional employment, don't automatically assume you need to move to Brisbane to build a security career. Sometimes being appropriately trained, licensed and available in a regional community where employers are struggling to find security officers can actually put you in a very strong employment position.
