If my CPP20218 qualification is several years old, do I only need to update First Aid and CPR before applying for a security licence?

RPL and Previous Security Training · 5 views
Scenario - The applicant completed CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations approximately four years ago but never applied for a Queensland security provider licence. They now wish to apply for the first time for Security Officer (Unarmed), Security Officer (Monitoring) and Crowd Controller functions.

In the scenario considered by OFT, yes.

OFT confirmed that the previously completed 13 CPPSEC security units did not need to be repeated simply because of the passage of time.

The applicant was required to update the applicable First Aid and CPR training before applying.

This remains subject to CPP20218 continuing to be approved training for the relevant licence functions and the applicant satisfying the other applicable licensing requirements.

Confirmed by: Tamika Travers, Manager, Industry Licensing Unit, Office of Fair Trading, Department of Justice — 24 September 2026.
