What is credit transfer in security training?

RPL and Previous Security Training · 17 views
Credit transfer is different from Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you have already successfully completed the exact same nationally recognised unit of competency with another Registered Training Organisation (RTO), BARS Training Australia is required under the RTO Standards to recognise that unit, subject to verifying the certification you provide.

You do not have to undertake the same training and assessment again simply because you have changed RTOs. Unlike RPL, we are not assessing whether your work experience demonstrates competency – another RTO has already assessed you as competent in that exact unit. BARS does not charge a fee for processing a genuine credit transfer.

There is, however, an important point about dates. Credit transfer does not create a new competency date. If you completed the unit with another RTO two years ago and BARS subsequently issues a qualification or Statement of Attainment incorporating that credit transfer, our transcript will reflect the original date that competency was achieved. This is particularly important for time-sensitive competencies such as HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. Credit transferring an older first aid or CPR unit does not magically make it current again. So bring us your previous Statement of Attainment or qualification transcript before enrolment.

If you have already completed exactly the same unit and we can verify it, we will give you the appropriate credit transfer and you will not be charged to repeat training you have already successfully completed.
