Security employment is available throughout Queensland, although the greatest concentration of security workers is in South East Queensland. Queensland workforce research has previously estimated that more than 75% of the State’s security workforce is located in South East Queensland, while also identifying the difficulty regional and remote areas experience attracting enough licensed security personnel. Security is also one of those industries where some businesses and facilities simply cannot operate normally without appropriately licensed personnel. Airports, ports, critical infrastructure, hospitals, shopping centres, industrial facilities, major events and the hospitality industry all create employment opportunities.
Licensed premises can also have mandatory crowd-controller requirements depending upon their location, trading hours and individual liquor licence conditions. BARS Training Australia is currently seeing particularly strong opportunities across regional and remote Queensland. In some communities, hospitality venues can experience difficulty operating to their permitted trading conditions because they cannot obtain enough licensed crowd controllers. Looking forward, Queensland's security requirements are unlikely to become smaller.
Population growth, increasing concerns about property crime, major infrastructure development and preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will all contribute to demand for appropriately trained and licensed security personnel. For someone prepared to work outside South East Queensland, regional security can provide some excellent employment opportunities.
BARS has delivered security training throughout Queensland for more than 20 years and maintains relationships with employers across metropolitan, regional and remote communities. Once you are appropriately licensed, our Employment Portal, BASE Camp community and industry network can help connect you with opportunities. Security isn't just a Brisbane job – wherever Queensland has people, property, businesses and infrastructure requiring protection, somebody has to provide that security.
