Yes. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is one of the 14 units of competency included in the BARS CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations, so students completing the full qualification undertake first aid as part of their security training. BARS also offers students completing CPP20218 the option of undertaking two additional concurrent courses: Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
These separate RSA and CPR Statements of Attainment are not required for the initial Queensland security provider licence and are not qualifications contained within the CPP20218 Security Operations training package being delivered. However, they are often requested by future security employers, particularly for employment at licensed premises and other workplaces where current CPR certification may be required or preferred. The skills and competencies required for these concurrent courses are incorporated into the broader training being undertaken during the BARS security course. Students who choose either concurrent course are separately enrolled and assessed, and BARS charges a small $30 administrative fee for each additional course to cover the separate enrolment and issuance of the Statement of Attainment.
These concurrent courses are therefore employment-driven rather than security licensing requirements and are offered as an optional and convenient way for students to obtain additional qualifications that may improve their employment opportunities.
