This qualification is designed for new entrants to the security industry seeking to obtain a Queensland security licence, including security officer — unarmed, security officer — monitoring, and crowd controller functions.
Queensland legislation requires individuals performing security work to hold the appropriate licence. The Office of Fair Trading administers and issues security licences to eligible applicants. Completion of CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is a mandatory training requirement for relevant Queensland security licence applications.
Potential candidates include:
- New entrants to the security industry
- Former military, police, or corrections personnel
- Individuals seeking a career change
- People interested in security, crowd control, or protective services
- Those aspiring to join police, defence, or corrections
- Individuals undertaking professional development
An online student application must be submitted before enrolment in the full security qualification. This allows BARS Training Australia to assess the applicant’s suitability, identify support needs, consider recognition of prior learning opportunities, and determine eligibility for Queensland Government subsidised training.
BARS Training Australia is not registered on CRICOS. The Office of Fair Trading Queensland will not accept a training certificate issued to a student visa holder unless the training was delivered by a CRICOS-approved provider. Student visa holders are therefore not eligible to enrol in this course with BARS Training Australia.
BARS Training Australia, National Provider 32061, delivers CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations using a practical, industry-focused delivery strategy tailored to client and student needs.
Queensland Government Subsidy — Career Start
Eligible Queensland students may be able to access subsidised training under the Queensland Government’s Career Start program. Eligibility is not automatic and must be assessed before enrolment.
Applicants will generally need to meet Career Start requirements, including Queensland residency, citizenship or eligible visa status, not being at school, and not having already accessed a conflicting subsidised training entitlement. CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is listed as a funded direct employment pathway, and students may access funding for CPP20218 or certain other security-related Certificate II qualifications, but not both.
