So, this is what you missed.
BARS Training Australia (Provider 32061) is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of committed, professional trainers utilising a wide range of experience to specialise in security training throughout Queensland. This team is led by its Principal, Garry Oliver, who served over 24 years in operational policing with the Queensland Police Service reaching the rank of Senior Sergeant. Garry is currently a National Director of the Security Providers Association (SPAAL) with now over 39 years of police and security experience.
Having spent his formative years in rural NSW, Garry truly believes that those in remote areas should be provided with easy access to education by trainers coming to them. Whilst we have offices in Townsville and on the Gold Coast, BARS Training will travel to any region where their services are requested and have done so over the past few years, conducting training in Palm Island, Thursday Island, Bamaga, Weipa, Mount Isa and Longreach.
Training is subsidised by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training as BARS Training is a Skills Assure supplier under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program, a program designed at supporting eligible Queenslanders to complete their first post-school Certificate III qualification and increase their skills to move into employment, re-entre the workforce or advance their career.
BARS Training has delivered a number of security courses now to the NPARC region with students successfully completing either the Certificate III or II in Security Operations. Not only do students receive training in the fundamental skills of a security officer but also specific scenario training focusing on current issues effecting the local community. Students practice hands on techniques removing people under liquor licensing requirements, patrolling premises, setting alarms and first aid response.
Recently BARS Training Australia identified the need to help remote communities set up locally owned and operated Security Companies. In Longreach, Palm Island and Bamaga, we assisted throughout the entire process of setting up the security company which included; Security Company Registration, Operations Manuals, Financial Advisors and security proposals to local council for approval. By achieving this we ensure that local people whom have completed our course are placed into employment and the profits from this employment and company are invested back into the local community.
